Bee-ing in Community

Kids today are so busy at such young ages, with the constant use of electronic devices taking up a significant portions of their precious time—precious time could be used to connect with and explore our wonderful natural world.

At Bee Love Farm we strive to share our exciting, natural environment and insights with our community; filled with awe, kids and families explore and learn about the natural wonder of our world, themselves and each other.

Our free hive tours on the farm is one extraordinary way for you and your family to “suit up” and experience this through exploring the real life magic that is inside a colony of our honey bees. We encourage you to call today and inquire about reservation availability.

For those who would rather investigate this connection at a distance, we have our abounding observation hive which readily reveals its magic through a beautiful glass encasement.

We have had just the right amount of rain and sunshine this year for an abundance of local wildflowers contributing to the wonderful health, well being and happiness of our honey bees on display in this colony.

We look forward to sharing the awe and beauty of springtime together.

Beekeeping Class Spring 2016

Greetings everyone! Weather permitting, our foundational beekeeping class is set for Saturday, May 21, 10:30 to 3:00. It will be held at Bee Love Farm, 875 Calabasas Road, Watsonville, CA

If the weather will not “cooperate”, the class will need to be moved to either the next Saturday, or the Saturday after that. I will give you as much advance notice as possible so that you can plan ahead.

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE: A very essential part of our class!

In order to conduct our beekeeping class to it’s fullness, we need a relatively sunny day without high winds. Our “bee farm” location on Calabasas Road has a tendency to be cold and windy during the month of April. However, since we are having relatively warm days early this year, chances are excellent that April 23 will work perfectly!

What does all this have to do with “Hands On” experience?

After the first or “verbal” part of the class is complete, all students will have a chance to open hives and explore inside. This is just steps away from the exhibit building where the class is held. Hands on experience is so essential for learning about these awesome honey bee buzzing insects!

As we explore inside various hives, you will learn how to detect diseases and pests (should they present themselves) inside the hive, how to use the various tools needed to inspect, and so much more.

You will also receive a booklet which will help guide you in the selection of bee equipment for the beginner. In addition to that, the booklet has important information about bee keeping which will help you become a very good beekeeper.

Please bring a lunch and something to drink. Wear long jeans, shoes or boots, and a long sleeved shirt (unless you have no fear of bees “resting” on bare arms or a possible sting). We provide a bee hat and veil for your use.

Feel free to email us at

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, April 23, at 10:30. Payment is due at arrival. We accept all major credit cards, debit, check, or cash.
